Hi I have a psychosis ( hear and see wonderful things )and have been dismissed from work in march, having been on suspension since august 2009.i had my ATOS medical today in Halifax. I knew from reading all the information supplied here, that if i smiled and was polite then i might have just said i lied on the pink form and say please put me on jsa!!So i decided to be the most abusive that i could be- and having seen the film bronson i knew how. I igmored the registered nurse and screamed c and f words at him being the most vicious- i could here the person in the next room and just bitched about what he was saying. my interview lasted 15 minutes and i kept saying- im f-in bored have you finished yet c? I even put my best gothic dress and push up bra on to create that illusion that iam a sweet girl. I did not cooperate at all with the receptionist and when asked for id i said what is this? a f-in airport really loudly, they looked really uncomfortable abut then i thought you dont see me as a patient- im just a bonus to you. Rachel I had forgotten they ask for ID like a driving licence or 3 other forms of ID, I have absolutely no intention of taking any ID with me if thy turn me away before I leave I will phone the DWP and say the SL*G on reception is turning me away because of no ID and if they cancel the ESA then the papers and other media sources will get access to the story. I will then demand a home visit and the person has proof they are registered with a UK body to practice in the UK. If they turn up without proof they will be turned away. Well if they can turn us away with no ID then I say turn the tables on them demand proof that they are registered to practice in the UK

ID gives them more info… tells them things about you that you can be manipulated with, maybe find your weak spot… you know, driving licence, passport, bank statement, utilty/phone bills…

i just wonder if the they have to go through what we go through if they ended up disabled or unemployed not through their own fault not bloody likly i bet that one is stiched up to help them out and get their benifits as soon as possible to make life easy for them i bet as its one law for the rich and another law for us and they wonder why we detest them as most of the torys are millonairs they dont need to worry about food , heat , ect……

If I had lost the appeal then I would have been informed within the week to go and sign on etc, all looks a bit one sided to me..!!

today i found no benefits in my account ,and ive only got 2pence in my bank account and two pence in my pocket,ive been to the Jobcentre plus in Leeds and ive Been told that i need to put a sick note in from January 21 2012,the DWP have not sent me any letters saying that i need a sick note from 21 January 2012.

Hello Mark.
The DWP told me when I inquired last year that they are not obliged to inform anyone that a sick note is due and is our own responsibility to ensure one is sent to them, in your case it’s even worse because when you appeal they should have notified you in writing that in order for you to receive the assessment rate a sick note is mandatory. An abuse of power is what I’m seeing.
I can suggest you get to the GPs as quick as you can Mark and get that sick note in to the DWP because they will do nothing until they see it, as I said in another post do not rely on them for anything, even when they say your money is deposited in your account, take it with a pinch of salt.
Don’t worry Mark I learned the hard way as well, everyone does..!!

feel i am past hope , i guess my happy go nature goes against me i try not to let my illnesses get me down , but feel i am a burden to my family i get no money cannot get any unless i get dla as my wife works 32 hours a week minimum wage and gets tax credits , i am in so much debt and spending her hard earned money on taxis to get to these assessments just does not help at £25.00 a go i have spent £200.00 in two years on assessments , medicals , tribunals etc. which cannot be claimed back ,
causing more debt and more arguing
really fed up of it

Hi guys/girls,
As a former DWP employee I just wanted to say that after I noticed the amount of abuse people are giving to the staff on these forums, that It’s not conductive.
Cathartic it may be, but if you have a violent or abusive outburst at a jobcentre it goes down as a marker on your notes, meaning that you will not be asked into a jobcentre unless extra staff are on hand to deal with any further problems. Whilst this may seem a good idea to avoid contact with DWP employee’s it actually limits the amount of help available to you.
There is no reason other than checking for fraud that ID is asked for. It could be anybody turning up, we dont know what you look like or who you are. People get others to go in and claim for benefits for them that they have no rights to. The examiner checks the person who turns up and benefits may be cleared for somebody who doesnt require them, costing the economy and people who genuinely need these benefits.
Not all DWP workers are heartless A-holes, I knew a lot of people there who honestly hated having to turn people down whilst knowing they had no other option. This is not a personal choice, but simply down to the system. I personally have heard heart breaking stories and know of horrific abuse that has happened to good meaning members of staff – Sickening when you consider that the vast majority of people are there to genuinely try and help out the most vulnerable members of society – The wage sucks, the job is disheartening and then you get abuse for trying your best to help people. We genuinely know that it is a hard world out there and are trying our best to help, but the system is the constraint, not the people.
It may be frustrating but It’s not the workers you need to be getting angry at but the government.
Until they change the system those at the bottom will always toil for those already at the top.

i have no quarrells at giving my id but i do not possess picture id i have never drove and never been abroad the only id i possess is a tatty old birth certificate , so surely there has to be something done somewhere not everyone drives a car or goes abroad , infact cannot remember having any holiday in near 18 years lol ,

Thanks for giving us a slight insight in to the workings of the DWP, it’s not often we get people like yourself coming on here and speaking up.
I’ve never worked for the DWP Chris but even I can see it’s a hard job, what’s the saying ”Between a rock and a hard place” but can I ask you this Chris, all these hard luck heart breaking stories you’ve hear about, do you just hear about them or have you personal experience ? and if you have had personal experience then why are you staying silent ?, yes I know that bastard of a boss of yours will pay you off and you won’t get another job (even though the DWP are constantly telling us there’s plenty of jobs) or a reference, so you try your best and hope you make a difference.
But your not making a difference Chris because you are saying nothing, and that’s where you could make all the difference and you can do it incognito, you don’t have to expose yourself, no one is asking you to do that, if you see someone deprived of their rights or being abused you have a moral duty to speak out, and you can do it by contacting the media like the Guardian (Polly Toynbee or Amelia Gentleman) or Private eye (Ian Hyslop) and telling them about it, as I said no need for personal details.
You could tell them about the tricks the DWP play on people, for instance by deliberately not telling them that they are entitled to the assessment rate when they are appealing a DWP fit for work decision and so giving that person the impression he/she has to sign on to get some kind of income (A person who could be seriously ill by the way) you could also tell them about that other filthy trick, a favourite of the DWP which is to inform the housing department as quickly as possible that such and such a person is no longer applying for benefits and therefore no longer entitled to housing or council tax rebate, when the truth is they are appealing (And should get the assessment rate) an ATOS fabricated assessment report, a report packed to the brim with filthy lies.
Then there’s the other trick the DWP love to torment people with which is the deliberate withholding of benefits for months on end (sometimes) as some kind of petty punishment for some minor misdemeanor. Which happened to me.
And there’s this sanctions nonsense, deliberately picking on mentally ill people who don’t even know where they are in body or spirit and telling them they didn’t apply for enough jobs that week so are no longer entitled to job seekers allowance, picking an easy target that can’t speak back or fight back so the JSA advisor can meet his/her quotas for that week. (That’s already been exposed by a whistleblower by the way).
You see Chris, the DWP do things like that to people and they expect us to love them for it ? they’re having a laugh right ?.
It wont be long Chris before they need giant shutters to keep the riff raff like me away from them, because when your brethren really start this sanctions nonsense, believe me ”THEY ARE GOING TO NEED THEM”.

At no point did I recieve “a subtle process of brainwashing, similar to the MK Ultra brainwashing program”. Nor did the Soviets mind control me or Ian Duncan Smith plant a chip in my brain,
I was being as nice and helpful as i could be, but i do have to say that you’re really trying to demonize anybody who won’t outright agree with you, or quickly enough for your liking.
As for recalling stories for you, I’d rather not – these are personal. You wouldnt like me telling your story without asking you first. Also to say I simply dont remember names or particular locations as I dealt with up to 30 customers a day for a couple of years.
There have been NO “dirty-tricks” at the DWP when I was working there – I said that it was a tough place to work if you followed the rules, and it was. I turned down families for crisis loans and had customers scream and give me an earful. I had distraught customers telling me incredibly hard life stories. I dealt with drug and alcohol problems on a daily basis. I even had one customer attempt an overdose whilst on the phone. I am happy and open to talk about these generalisations but like i said, don’t remember names or towns (generally speaking Scotland is a bad place to be though in my experience)
The DWP is a hard enough place to work without having to pull any “dirty-tricks” to make life harder for yourself.
EVERYTHING that happens there is to a script. Literally everything. The person answering the phone has a script to read. The person booking appointments has a script to follow. People doing medical examinations have a (very extensive) list of questions to follow and check. We did not ask humiliating questions, demand paperwork or turn anybody down for ANY benefit based on any form of personal choice at all.
I know it often seems like it’s my choice because afterall, If im reading the script and asking the questions i must be making the decisions right? Well no. Beaurocracy is the spice of life, and after all questions are asked and answered as fully as possible I would send the data off and a “Decision Maker” would funnily enough make the decision.
You clearly have a lot of problems with the company (which i totally understand), and a lot of examples to boot. May I suggest that YOU take your advice on your personal stories and “do it by contacting the media like the Guardian (Polly Toynbee or Amelia Gentleman) or Private eye (Ian Hyslop) and telling them about it”

i have just had a medical in dundee with ATOS he was a colured man of very dark skin,but quite polite.he asked me for a list of my medical probs,and one of them was IBS irritable bowel syndrome.this so called DR did not say what ibs is stands for, but on his computer,i heard windows being started,this so called doc was secretly typing in IBS to see what it stood for- lol what a sham,i expect to fail.I told this person that what i have seen on the web ect,that is your job to get me off ESA.HE REPLYED ,IT’S NOT MY DECISION well who’s is it??ps most of my trouble is neuro,worn joints ect.

By the way since he decides the points then it’s his decision, ATOS HCPS decide if you get benefits or not, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Colin if it is not their decision then why does the HCP have to give a score for each part of the interrogation? Because it is their decision, the DECISION MAKER normally goes along with what the HCP says (RUBBER STAMPING) the report.
I would love to get this doctor for my interrogation he certainly wouldn’t know what the letters of my condition meant. But if he had to start windows then that means the PC was not switched on and the last thing the DWP/ATOS would do is provide sound equipment or the cabling for the LCD monitor to provide sound from the monitor. Could this HCP have actually intended to do the report from memory after you had left the room?

I forgot to mention, mental health issues are not taken into account at an ATOS assessment and moreover they never have, and shows how much you know about ATOS and their flawed assessments.
